Overview
Grove - Fiber Tracker (“the App”) is developed by JPM Inc. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our App.
The short version: your food log is stored on your iPhone, and if iCloud is on, it syncs through your own private iCloud account. We receive anonymous usage information, which can include the names of foods you log from the food database. We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
Information We Collect
Grove runs no server that stores your food log. The App does not require an account, login, or any form of registration.
Your food logs, gut check-ins, streaks, and preferences are stored on your iPhone using Apple’s SwiftData framework. If you are signed in to iCloud, this data also syncs through your own private iCloud account so it can move to a new phone. That copy is held by Apple under your Apple ID and is governed by Apple’s privacy policies. If iCloud is on, a copy stays in your iCloud account even after you delete the App from your phone. Apart from that sync, this data does not leave your device except as described under Analytics and Notifications below.
HealthKit
The App can read from and write to Apple HealthKit. It reads and writes fiber and water, and it reads and writes gut symptoms such as bloating, constipation, diarrhea, and abdominal cramps. This integration is optional and requires your explicit permission, and you choose which types to allow. Grove reads and writes this data through Apple Health. It is not sent to us or to the services listed below. Data in HealthKit is governed by Apple’s privacy policies.
USDA FoodData Central
The App uses the USDA FoodData Central database to provide food search functionality. Food searches go through Grove’s own search service to the USDA database. No personal information is included in these requests. The USDA’s data use policies apply to the database.
When you scan a barcode, the barcode number is sent to Open Food Facts to look up the product. No personal information is included. Open Food Facts’ own policies apply to that service.
RevenueCat
The App uses RevenueCat to manage Grove+ subscriptions. RevenueCat processes subscription transactions through Apple’s App Store infrastructure. RevenueCat may collect anonymous identifiers for subscription management purposes. No personal health or food logging data is shared with RevenueCat. Analytics and Notifications
The App uses a small number of third-party services to understand how the App is used and to send reminders. They receive the limited information described below, tied to a random identifier and not to your name, email, or Apple ID. They do not receive your gut check-in answers or your Apple Health data.
- TelemetryDeck: anonymized usage analytics. The App sends event names such as “a food was logged” along with basic device and app version information. When you log a food from the food database or a barcode, the event includes the name of that food. TelemetryDeck is designed so that individual users cannot be identified.
- PostHog: product analytics. The App sends event names, screen names, and app version information tied to a randomly generated anonymous identifier stored on your device. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, or Apple ID. When you log a food from the food database or a barcode, the event includes the name of that food. Some events include totals, such as how many days you logged in your first week and how many grams of fiber that came to. PostHog also records some sessions so we can see where people get stuck. In those recordings, what you type into food search and the search results are visible. The foods you have already logged and anything you edit are hidden.
- OneSignal: push notification delivery. If you allow notifications, OneSignal receives your device’s push token, the same anonymous identifier described above, and two behavior values (your current streak and how many days since your last log) so reminders can be timed sensibly.
Your gut check-in answers and your Apple Health data are not sent to any of these services. A food name you typed yourself is not sent either. Nothing is sold to anyone, and nothing is used for advertising. There are no ads in the App.
Website Analytics
Our website, grovefiberapp.com, uses Google Analytics 4 to measure page views and traffic sources. Google Analytics sets cookies and may collect your IP address, browser, and general location. This applies to the website only, not the App, and no App data is connected to it. You can block it with any standard browser or content-blocking setting.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this Privacy Policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
